Overview Transcript Case Study Video
Meet the eHarmony team, from Marylyn and Dr. Neil Clark Warren, to Greg Fogatch (top row) and Greg Steiner, Steve Carter, and Galen Buckwalter.
Algorithms process 29 dimensions, 436 questions, transactional ranges, and millions of possibilities.

Pasadena, California: Some people would think that this is a story about matchmaking. It is. But it is much more. It is about the power of mathematics to begin making sense of the chaos within the human mind. The algorithms that were invented here are pure genius. Of course, the mathematics of the mind will never be perfect, but these folks are committed to continuous improvement. Brilliant.

Yet, their mission (or vision) is huge; they want to mend a broken world one family at a time. In 1993 Oprah unwittingly helped to launch this business when she had Dr. Neil Clark Warren on her show and his book sold very well as a result. Called Finding the Love of Your Life, it is his best insights from thirty years of marriage counseling. He wants each of us to find a soulmate. He wants to see our families and marriages cohere.

There is so much failure in small business, and we know that failure stresses and breaks marriages. Most business is family business. As difficult as it can be, each of us needs the 100% commitment of both people in the relation or the business and marriage are destined for trouble.

Dallas & Washington, DC: Texas Nameplate is the small business 2004 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award winner. This award is their second! The Ritz Carlton and Solectron are the only other businesses that have been so honored.

What makes this story so special is that this business is every small business. On the brink of failure for most of its years, once a continuous improvement program was put into place, their numbers and key ratios have been on a trajectory that'll continue to take them to the stars.

Meet Dale Crownover and his business family. Though this episode of our television show first aired in 1997, the lessons here are truly evergreen!
