 |
| USA: On Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in
New York City, a labor union initiated the first celebration of labor. Within
three years, the holiday spread throughout the country as a focus on working
people and as a contrast with May Day which was associated with the Socialist
movement.¹ |
 |
| Going forward, labor unions
would do well to focus on becoming owners (study/start
ESOP
programs). |
 |
| Ownership is fertile
soil; we find our roots and go deeper and that empowers us to improve the
processes of creating something of value and continuous improvement begins to
drive us. |
 |
| Every small business owner
you meet here describes how their labor and work becomes an expressive
celebration of their life. |
