Each Live Meeting takes place online. Everybody sees the key ideas within the study guide and the audio is currently an 800-number dial-in. The first 20 minutes of the session will be used to go through the study guide, point-by-point to see how each of these ideas can be applied locally. We'll also open the mike and invite the comments of all the people who have come to the meeting. Plus all the participant at the same time will be able to review short clips from the show (streaming video). It really should be fun and educational. This is television as it should be. 2. Who is invited? You are. You're here because you heard the invitation on KPBS-TV or you are particularly thorough in your examination of the web site, particualrly for San Diego County! So, others from around the country and around the world might stumble upon the live meeting. Everybody is welcomed but the invitation is only made to the viewers of KPBS-TV. Also, there are over 5,000 small business owners in this area who have registered on the web site and have requested our weekly email that summarizes the next episode of the show to air and informs them who will be leading the collaboration event this week. 3. The leader of the session. The leadership will be provided by small business advocates within our local Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Commissions, our local SBA-SBDC-SCORE office, Workforce Initiatives, business professors from one of our universities, and even local business coaches, business journalists or experts within a subject matter. Each leader(s) of the event will be a person (or persons) within the community who have had a long history of helping small business owners be successful. Though a local event, others beyond our community may be invited as expert witnesses. We've had governors, US Senators, and many mayors and presidents of major corporations say that they would be glad to be part of a session. 4. The Dynamics. The Live Meeting will open at the time the show begins its broadcast. We will not discourage people from watching the show and "talking" while it is airing. This a time for people to become better acquainted with the software and to mingle. There will be links to the overview, case study guide, transcript and video. When the session formally starts at the end of the broadcast, there will be opportunities for every person to get in the queue to raise a point. The Live Meeting infrastructure provides the ability to have private chat sessions within the event, i.e. among local businesses owners who are in the same industry or the same chamber of commerce, etc. This landing page is the only access path to enter the San Diego County live meetings after SmallBusinessSchool. This page will be expanded in conjunction with Live Meeting to open several practice activities for those people not familiar with collaboration. Ultimately we hope this activist television show gains traction and each episode becomes standard fair for most small business owners in their community. |
