Starting at one centimeter, explore 115 steps going within to the smallest measurement at Planck's constant and 91 steps out to somewhere "between the edges" of the observable universe.

Coming: A page for each notation
Coming: Lesson plans and notes
Open for discussion...

1.   URL for emerging websites

    •   81018.org plus  .COM and  .NET
    •   BBLU.org for Big Board, Little Universe
    •   BigBoardLittleUniverse.org plus .COM

    •   What other names might work?

2.   There are many problems with the current edition.
2a.   The data listed at each notation was quickly assembled in less than a week back in December 2011. Let's double-and-triple check every notation  to make each elegant and charming.
2b.   Blank lines: Let's fill them in as much as possible then focus on a those with no known working data.  We can all speculate a little and provide our  rationale for that speculation.

Note: Eventually these pages will be a WIKI site whereby
we all collaborate and vote and agree on line items.
The only sacred cow is that there is respect, grace and dignity.
What lines, or open lines,  could be your focus?

3.   Hosting of websites and website teasers
We started on SmallBusinessSchool.org; it was easy to do.
On what other sites should this information be available?

What use is this Big Board - little universe?

We are not entirely sure, but here is some speculation:
1.   It simplifies things - the entire universe in just 206 notations!
2.   Each step can be studied to discern relations first within itself, then to the next notations -- "within"  and "going out."
3.   It begins to envision every academic study in a necessary relation, one to another.  Academic silos are so yesterday!
4.   It re-introduces the platonic solids as a structural form for the study of continuity conditions within a complex enfolding of symmetries. Someday we may actually know what that means!
5.   It opens symmetry groups to a much wider study in many other disciplines beyond material science and theoretical physics.
6.   It could open an exploration of imperfect geometry (or quantum geometries) whereby transcendental, imaginary and irrational numbers result from various transformations from the perfect to the imperfect.
7. We might discover a form/function that aligns all 206 notations such that we are able to discern a truly standard measurement unlike the meter or inch. That would be rather novel! So, of course, there's more to come.

A discussion with students in the Ukraine

On Monday, February 13, 2012, Bruce Camber reviewed these pages with students at the national university, Kharkov, Ukraine.

Perhaps this work could be called, "From praxis-to-theoria."  Using various manifestations of the tetrahedron, octahedron, icosahedron , cube and dodecahedron, this working project is dubbed, a Big Board for our little universe. This page is part of an early-stage research project of scientific notation using base 2 (praxis) whereby the entire universe, from the smallest measurement (Planck's constant) to the largest (the edges of the observable universe) is represented in 206 steps assuming nested platonic solids (theoria) within each step. There are many blank lines asking for ideas, concepts, and eventually information. The original chart was put together in just a week (December 12-19, 2011) for a high school geometry class. It was done too quickly and there are many simple mistakes. These mistakes will slowly be corrected. Each notation will be under the guidance of scholars and students whose research is within that notation. Thus, there'll be at least 206 groups.

So, a warm welcome to you... this page provides access to a highly-speculative, work-in-progress. Friends and family were first to be invited to begin a critical review. Now, friends of friends are also being invited! The hope is that the project will be validated in its scope and logic. If the logic and scope are invalidated, the results of that process will be fully reported and analyzed. High school students will be invited to think about this model as a relatively simple way to organize information. College students, graduate students, doctoral candidates, and post-docs will be invited to consider how praxis can be reduced to theoria as well as theoria reduced to praxis. Select business partners are being invited to consider if-and-how these concepts could be integrated within their own work.

Here's a link to go to the working pages for the big board.
Embedded here is a link to go to an image of the original.

Starting Point. This will become the primary link to get involved with the research for the Big Board!  There will be a group of students and scholar-specialists for each notation.  From among that group, a lead scholar-specialist will emerge (representational democracy within the Wiki structure). Many links for each notation will be added over time.
