We all have had to take that Flying Leap. For most of us, it is not easy. If you have worked for long within the security of a job, it is gut wrenching. Watch this video. In the first 12-seconds when you only hear the music, answer the question, "Why do I want to do this?" If it is just to make a lot of money, you've got a lot of work to do. Money's motivation can not sustain a business in its infancy. There's got to be more.

A: It certainly helps. Many people over the years have said, "Somebody has to wake up thinking about this business if it is going to succeed."
We add, "That person should also be thinking about it when they go to sleep."
If you think calmly about the your big problems when you go to sleep and be prepared to solve the problem in your dreams, most often you will. By the way, the answers (remembering the dream) usually comes while taking a shower.
Dreams are metaphorical and everything in life is metaphorically connected. There may be several metaphorical permutations, but it is within metaphors that we get ideas for solutions to old problems. That kind of thinking, analogical as opposed to analytical, requires a certain openness of one's imagination where we see answers in peculiar places.
So eating, breathing, and living within one's business is generally what every small business owner naturally does. It is inevitable and probably to be desired. Some would disagree. They say, "Work on your business, not in your business."
Yet, essentially the net result is the same. We don't need to get bogged down in semantics.

A: Of course, some people think it means to take a hike. Here it means to take the leap of faith. It is the leap into the unknown. It is the courage to start. It is the tenacity to endure the pain. And, it is the hope of a new day.

A: Yes, especially if you are in a space shuttle coming from the International Space Station! So much of flying is controlled falling. But in this metaphor, your abilities, your network, your capital, and your team are your rocket boosters that make it possible to take off. But the most important quality to fly and not fall is your personal courage.
You have to trust yourself and go for it!
Your personal jet engine is your talent, your insight, your ethics, your integrity, and your zest for life. With those held together (and granted we all fall sometimes), flight becomes possible.
You can fly and then be controlled within your path to the various landings every business must go through to get to the next level.
